abstract and artistical representation of the “völklinger hütte” in germany. (european center of art and industrial culture – unesco – old, defunct steel and coal processing plant)
four symbolic elements adressing each of the different senses of the observer and creating an abstract “adventure way” of the old usage of the plant.
the observers sences are focused on the slow decay of the plant by the forces of nature.
the elements have l-forms and are constructed of glass and zinc plates, individually shaping an area of the plant. the glass is colored green and orange indicating nature, freshness and rusty crumbling symbols accordingly.
the zink symbolises the coming of a new age as the use of it in the construction aims to conquer the forces of nature attempting to destroy it, a contrast to the history of the plant.
1. element = introduction to the topic
2. element = to hear and feel ( different kind of materials on the ground in different forms of erosion let the guest hear and feel the sensation of errosion & decay)
3. element = to feel ( feeling the erroded materials with hands through an invisible slit in the element
4 . element = vision ( hologrammic presentation of the plant in the future all “consumed” by nature......... full of grass and green.. like a future window )
